Our friends at the Greater Boston Chamber of Cooperatives are petitioning that the City of Boston designate some of it’s land for prioritizing resident control and ownership, in addition to affordability and community input.
To the City of Boston:
Public land is a precious resource, and we believe that community control is important to ensure that public, community needs are prioritized. When disposing of public land, we urge that the City give highest priority to proposals that
- conform to the community master plan or community-defined priorities,
- include affordable housing goals that match the community’s needs and provide for the longest term of affordability, and
- offer the highest level of community resident ownership and control.
